Autumn is here again

Autumn or fall is one of the four seasons. It marks the transition from summer to winter. Harvest is the term usually used to refer to this season. Harvest is the process of collecting mature plants from the fields. The harvest marks the end of the growing season and the social importance of this event makes it the focus of seasonal celebrations such as a harvest festival.
In North America, Canada and the US there are Thanksgiving celebrations in October and November.

In Britain, thanks have been given for successful harvests. The celebrations usually include singing hymns, praying, and decorating churches with baskets of fruit and food.
And in Asia, the Chinese Moon Festival is one of the most widely spread harvest festivals in the world. (We knew about it last year because of our school project).

Here in A Coruña we also celebrate some harvest festivals as "A Festa da Pataca" (Potato Party) in Coristanco. Coristanco is well-known to be the potato capital in Galicia. This American tubercle which came to remplace the chestnuts in the Galician daily diet is exalted in this annual celebration each third weekend of September. It's organized in San Roque, main population center of Coristanco where the best potatoes are.
