International Women's Day

Today I would to remember a woman who faced injustice and decided to change the world with a simple choise: Rosa Louise McCauley Parks (February 4, 1913 – October 24, 2005). She was an African-American civil rights activist. On her way home from work on December 1st, 1955, Rosa did something that changed the lives of African-Americans in the United States forever: she refused to give up her seat on the bus to a white person..
Rosa was arrested for her disobedience and she was fined $14. But this was nothing compared to the effect her arrest had on the African-American community in Montgomery, Alabama where she lived. When people heard about it, they all agreed not to use the buses on the day of her trial, which was the following day. The one-day boycott was so successful that they all decided to continue with it indefinitely. In the end, the Montgomery Bus Boycott lasted for 381 days, and the city had to change the law. From December 20th, 1956 onwards, black people and white people no longer had to travel separately on the buses. This was achieved thanks to the brave action of one single woman: Rosa Parks.
Watch this video about her.
